We are thrilled to share exciting news—our very own Executive Director, Derschaun Brown, has been appointed to the National Board of Directors for Friends of the Children!

This honor reflects both her leadership in Detroit and her commitment to ensuring every child has the consistent, caring mentorship they deserve. Since 2018, Derschaun has led Friends–Detroit with vision and heart, serving 64 children annually and spearheading initiatives like our Spark Innovation STEAM Lab and Literacy Igniting Tomorrow (L.I.T.).

Her seat at the national table ensures that the voices and experiences of Detroit’s children and families will help shape the future of Friends of the Children across the country.
