Calvin R. Toone Sr. is a proud graduate of Lake Shore High School, where he distinguished himself early as a dedicated student-athlete, earning varsity letters in football, basketball, and track by his sophomore year. His discipline, competitive spirit, and commitment to excellence carried him to Wayne State University on a football scholarship, where he earned his degree in Corporate Finance.

Calvin built a highly respected career as a commercial banker for more than a decade, specializing in providing capital solutions to small and mid-sized businesses. His ability to understand complex financial needs, structure strategic lending opportunities, and guide entrepreneurs through growth and expansion earned him a reputation as a trusted advisor in the business community.

With over 30 years of experience in business development, Calvin has led initiatives that strengthened organizational partnerships, expanded market reach, and supported long-term economic growth. His work in project management has included coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives, overseeing operational improvements, and driving results through collaboration, strategic planning, and disciplined execution.

Calvin’s leadership and impact have been recognized locally and nationally. In 2025, he was named a Men of Excellence honoree by the Michigan Chronicle, celebrating his professional achievements, community leadership, and commitment to uplifting others.

Grounded in the values instilled by his parents, Bishop Willie B. Toone and Mother Roberta Toone, Calvin credits his faith, family, and sense of purpose as the foundation of his work ethic and service. He remains deeply engaged in ministry and community outreach as the Finance Director and Men’s Ministry Leader at Whitehead Cathedral COGIC, where he supports families, mentors men, and connects community members with essential resources.

A proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Calvin is committed to service, leadership, and the advancement of his community. He is married to Paris Toone, and together they are the proud parents of two children, Calvin Jr. and Lauren.
