Caitlin Reiten is a master's of social work student at the University of Michigan. She earned a bachelor's in psychology in addition to performing neuroscience research and studying art therapy at the Minnesota State University of Moorhead. She has worked for numerous nonprofits empowering youth for years with roles including a direct care provider for youth staying in a temporary youth shelter, an art therapy intern at an in-patient mental health facility, and an educational liaison for students aged 11-17 facing out-of-school suspension in an alternative school setting. She is currently an infant mental health specialist intern at MiSide in Detroit and recently earned a fellowship through the Golub National Nonprofit Board Fellows program at the University of Michigan. Through this, she will be working as an advocate for the youth involved with Friends of the Children Detroit at their board meetings and will be assisting in developing the organization's monthly giving program.
This is not Caitlin's first time working with Friends of the Children! In addition to her professional social work related roles, Caitlin volunteered for FOTC Fargo-Moorhead during her undergraduate career and assisted with fundraising and community events promoting FOTC. Caitlin has been tailoring her career to directly working with and empowering youth through various outreach and therapeutic modalities. She is excited to again be working with FOTC and continuing to develop her skill set for working with youth and their families while continuing her education career!
